AS/NZS 2290 - Electrical Equipment For Coal Mines

Course Cost: $1,650 AUD (GST Free)

Incorporates 7 units of competency:

  • UEENEEM080A - Report on the integrity of explosion-protected equipment in a hazardous area

  • UEENEEM019A - Attend to breakdowns in hazardous areas

  • UEENEEM023A - Install explosion-protected equipment and wiring systems

  • UEENEEM027A - Maintain equipment in hazardous areas

  • UEENEEM038A - Conduct testing of hazardous areas installations

  • UEENEEM042A - Conduct visual inspection of hazardous areas installations

  • UEENEEM043A - Conduct detailed inspection of hazardous areas installations

The course is for those required to undertake Introduction, inspection and maintenance - For hazardous areas in coal mines, examples:

  • Appointed Electrical responsible persons who require the competency to Introduce, inspect and maintain Electrical equipment for coal mines for hazardous areas.

This course is aligned to requirements of AS/NZS 4761.1:2008 Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas (EEHA) - Competency Standards and AS/NZS 2290.1:2014 Electrical equipment for coal mines - Introduction, inspection and maintenance - For hazardous areas.

The course is intended for Electricians and Electrical Engineers to understand their requirements in hazardous area classification, explosion-protection techniques, equipment installation requirements, inspections and procedures for Hazardous Areas equipment.

Qualification Issued

Providing a Statement of Attainment is conditional to meeting these requirements.

Unrestricted Electrical Licence or an Academic Transcript for the full Certificate III in Electrotechnology or a higher level AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) Electrical qualification/s are required for review for compliance, e.g. Electrical Engineering Diploma or Degree.

What if I do not have a current Unrestricted Electrical Licence, Academic Transcript for the full Certificate III in Electrotechnology or a higher level AQF Electrical qualification?

  • You are not eligible to be awarded a Statement of Attainment, but will be provided a Statement of Attendance for the course
  • You will be eligible for a Statement of Attendance only (due to ASQA requirements)

Recommended refresher every 3 years.

The course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). Workplace Approved throughout Australia.

3 x 8 hours days

Target Audience

This course is designed to assist Electrical trades and professionals who work in Workshops certified to AS/NZS 2290.1:2014 Electrical equipment for coal mines

Entry Requirements

There are pre-requisites for this course refer to qualification issued.

It is recommended that students have sufficient literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course to AQF level 3.

Appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear are required.

This course covers the principles of Workshops certified to AS/NZS 2290.1:2014 Electrical equipment for coal mines.

Requirements for Completion

100% attendance, participation, and examination pass.
